Horizon Festival
Services: Brand Identity, Brand Strategy
Horizon Festival is a 10-day celebration of art, people and place on Kabi Kabi and Jinibara Country, Sunshine Coast. In its ninth year, the festival had built something real: a loyal community, a distinct programme, and a reputation worth protecting. The challenge was ambition. Sunshine Coast Council partnered with us to reposition Horizon to sit confidently alongside the country's leading arts festivals in major capital cities.
The concept began with a question: what does a horizon actually represent? The answer shifts depending on where you're standing. Inspired by the mathematical formula used to calculate the horizon, we developed a flexible plotting system for the festival's communications. A framework that adapts dynamically across formats and environments while staying anchored to a single idea.
The wordmark carries that idea into every application. By cutting through the word Horizon, the mark evokes the precise moment of a sun rising or setting: a subtle, persistent reminder of change, place and perspective. The system gives the festival the visual range to compete nationally while remaining rooted in the country it celebrates.
